Prevention is better than cure. It is of great importance to be one step ahead in whatever possible endeavor we face and that is why some actions are necessary to do, to avoid any further damage.
Natural phenomena are hardly predictable. Climate change, being a factor of unpredictable weather patterns, can add up to the chase. But, certain calamities like floods are something people should always prepare for. Here are some safety tips to do in case flooding occurs:

Prepare for the unexpected and make necessary plans. Listen to local radio, watch the television and check online news sources for any upcoming announcements.
Make sure that your shelter can be sturdy enough for the incoming storm. Check the roof for holes, check pipes and tubes for water circulation and check the area.
Stock some food and water in preparation for the event—food can really be handy especially if there comes a blackout in the area.
Prepare supplies for first-aid kits and emergency kits.

5. Do not swim or plunge your body in filthy floods especially if you have an open wound.

6.Check your electric wirings to avoid cases of electric shocks in water. Act right away; and if necessary, remove the plugs and turn off power.
7.Never drive in a flash flood or high-level body of water along your area. For most cases, stay home if necessary. Have a list of contacts in case of emergency- hotlines and numbers of relatives.
8. If the flood is above a certain measure, go to higher ground or stay in a safer place.
9. Avoid places with persisting floods and do not attempt to cross it.
10.Evacuate only when necessary and if advised by the local government. Always stay vigilant.
Recently, natural disasters are happening around the world. In the Philippines alone, Typhoon Lannie and Tropical Depression Maring crossed the Philippine Area of Responsibility which caused severe floods and some deaths. Hurricane Irma wreaked havoc in some parts of the United States, including Florida and Georgia.
It is better to stay alert and be prepared in case events like this come visit our area.
