Following a defeat less than 24 hours against Palestine’s Sareyyet Ramallah, the Chooks Pilipinas were back on the hardcourt and conquered Thailand’s Mono Vampires at the Chenzhou Sports Center.

“Standout” player Carl Bryan Cruz gave 28 points for Team Pilipinas, including the eight 3-point shots that helped team take the lead.

Import Isaiah Austin, despite having an injured leg last Saturday, contributed 27 points alongside a couple of back-to-back assists done by Kiefer Ravena, who fared well on his own by giving the team 24 points.

In the first half of the game, the Chooks-to-Go was already leading with Cruz and Ravena’s 3-point shots, giving the team a nine-point edge during the first quarter, 31-22.

The Mono Vampires from Thailand tried to keep up against Team Pilipinas with their import Mike Singletary leading the team.

There was a second quarter surge courtesy to the three and 2-point shots from both teams, with the quarter ending in favor of Team Pilipinas, 57-51.

Singletary kept the game close after the halftime, setting their score in a close distance from the Chooks until Cruz scored again for Team Pilipinas, 81-77.

During the final quarter, the Chooks flew higher with a couple of scores, including a commended sidestep from Kiefer Ravena, who later assisted Isaiah Austin in raising the lead.

Austin’s final shot further buried the Mono Vampires with a double digit lead and sealed the win for the Chooks Pilipinas with the score of 115-102.

This win by Team Pilipinas gave them a record of 2 wins and a single loss, and would be defending it against Iran’s Petrochimi on September 26, Tuesday.
