BBM honors Miriam’s first death anniv

Former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. reminisced his working experiences with the late Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago during the commemoration of her first death anniversary at the Loyola Memorial Park, Friday.

As the running mate of the “Iron Lady of Asia”, Bongbong felt privileged to work alongside her when she was still in the senate.

“We always sat next to each other and we had very long discussions,” he recalled.

“She paid me the ultimate tribute and flattery by choosing me as her running mate in the previous elections,” he added.

Bongbong remembered her presence as a “shining light” and admitted missing her advocacies that he believed should be kept in mind to enable the people to continuously fight for it.

“They [advocacies] are of value and they are noble causes that are for the Philippines,” he said.

For him, Senator Santiago’s say on the current state of politics would be “never quit, never stop, [and] never surrender” which he thinks summarizes the way she would approach the present dilemmas of the government.

On another note, no further updates were given regarding his possible appointment as a cabinet member of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“That was supposed to be a year after the elections so right now, I'm very busy with the protest that I have before they put a presidential electoral tribunal,” he explained.

Aside from Bongbong, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada and Davao Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio also came in attendance at the mass held for Miriam.
