Ginebra improves to 3-2, outlasts Meralco
Recovering from two straight losses, Ginebra outlasts Meralco, 85-74, in Game five of the PBA Governor’s Cup Finals at Philippine Arena, Sunday.

The Gin Kings showed a constant aggressive performance in the whole game that led to their domination. They already felt the rhythm of the game as soon as they stepped in the court.
With this, they were able to put Meralco down in the first half in as much as 18 points.
Meralco Bolts managed to get their first taste of the lead in the 1st quarter after Reynel Hugnatan buried a trey, 13-12.
However, as the quarters progressed, the Bolts had a hard time connecting their shots and committed back-to-back turnovers.
LA Tenorio stepped up his game and showed that he is effective in offense, making consecutive baskets in the game.
It was a close fight in the third quarter as Meralco finally felt their game and was able to get a lead with Allen Durham’s layup, 60-58.
At the fourth quarter, the Kings were unstoppable in launching shots and showing a great defense system.
Bolts’ Chris Newsome was fouled out of the game with 3:09 minutes left after contact with Greg Slaughter.
The Bolts were not able to catch up after, and the game ended in favor of the Kings.
Greg Slaughter was hailed as the best player of the game finishing with 17 points, 15 rebounds, and five blocks.
Game 6 is set on October 25 at the same venue.
