Duterte’s Undas Message: Be agents of positive change
President Rodrigo Duterte urged Filipinos to become agents of positive change in his message for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
“As we pause to honor our dearly departed and our saints, let us reflect on how we can become agents of positive change in our society. Let us contemplate on how we can make our country and this world a much better place for ourselves and for future generations,” stated in his undas message.
Duterte emphasized the importance of remembering the saints and the departed ones as they enriched Catholic faith and made impact in people’s lives. There are also lessons and wisdom people may gain from them.
Duterte also recognized the legacy left by those who have already departed and that it may inspire people to “make our mark in this world and to dedicate ourselves to causes that are greater than our own self-interest.”
“Their deeds remind us that, like them, we are capable of bringing hope and joy to many people,” said Duterte.
At the end of his message, Duterte wished everyone a solemn and meaningful remembrance of the departed.
