13 Horror Movies That Can Scare Your Pants Off This Undas Break

This Undas break, not only do we celebrate All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day, but it is also the most coveted day of dress-up and candy which is Halloween. It is a time to spook and get spooked! There are plenty of horror movies that can either make you jump, cry or even sigh (and yes, that’s the Paranormal Activity franchise). Here are 13 (lucky number for Halloween!) horror movies that can definitely scare your pants off with extra vomit points!

1. We Are What We Are (2013)

It entails a graphic representation of cannibalism. The movie may not seem gory or thrilling when you look at the poster, but let me tell you, you might change food lifestyles after watching it. The intense family background in the movie captures the vintage vibe and slow horror feel.

2. IT (1990)

The original and diabolical film is more terrifying than the 2017 remake. Everything about 1990 IT is horrifying and extremely creepy. Although it was categorized as a miniseries, this 3-hr clown fest has brought Stephen King’s book into a complete 10/10 nightmare.

3. SAW Franchise (2004 – 2010)

One of my favorite horror/thriller movie franchise that never fails to make the people who watch the movies vomit, look away, and even not considering to watch them at all. The slasher films tell the story of a sadistic serial killer, Jigsaw, accompanied by doll, Billy the Puppet, that makes his victims complete extreme puzzles filled with knives, guns, steam, nails and more to “teach them a moral lesson”.

4. Split (2016)

It’s scary enough that the main character has 23 different personalities lying in his head, but to be kidnapped with two other girls in the underground and communicating with these 23 personalities is spine-chilling. Also, for them to discover the 24th personality just by taunting him to let them out, puts the whole movie in a complete spiral of sweaty hands and no-blink moments.

5. Annabelle: Creation (2017)

Although the first Annabelle movie was a let-down (there was an infrequent use of the doll and the story was all over the place), the sequel punched in some knockout jump scares and creepy scenes that will make you tip on your toes. In comparison to the first movie, it is better in some points, but probably better when you watch it with the lights out.

6. Hush (2016)

Quite a silent film because of its deaf main character, but the horrors brought by that fact plus a masked hoodlum breaking into her house is a definite chiller. There’s no telling whether you’d be on your seat or standing up jumping, as you watch the woman fight for her life as she tries to use the rest of her senses to survive.

7. You’re Next (2011)

Much like the Saw franchise seeing its slasher qualifications, this movie is far from moral lessons and just tying up victims under bloodied machines. As the Davidson family reunites for the parents’ wedding anniversary, a brute group of killers try and terminate every single member of the family. The killing is more than just that, it’s more direct to the point when it comes to swinging axes and shooting guns. Definitely on the gore-y side.

8. The Collector (2009)/The Collection (2012)

These two movies will make you rethink about going into bars to party or be involved in major heists. The Collector has an exquisite use of majorly two characters inside a house, and the story revolves around them trying to catch and kill each other, which is something unlike other horror movies. The sequel actually had more blood use and more traps a la Saw. However, both movies will give you the fright and chills of a lifetime.

9. The Visit (2015)

You may think this is some lame piece of try-hard horror, but Split director, M. Night Shyamalan’s mind has gone through the borders of actual family visits and turned it into a living nightmare. Isn’t a visit to your grandparents’ house such a treat? Delicious cookies, free will to roam around the house and an overall great time? No. The Visit will give you chills as you see how an innocent visit by two kids to their lovely grandparents’ house takes them on an unexpected fright that will make them regret staying up late.

10. The Purge Series (2013 – 2016)

Think about being in a country that has an annual purge where you can eliminate your enemies and do every illegal thing all night long? Well, that sucks if you don’t have guns, knives or the perseverance to get out of bed in the morning. This series entails a premise that might happen in the future (which is scary AF) and gives off shocking deaths and frequent violence.

11. The Sleep Curse (2017)

Get your subtitles ready because this Hong Kong-based film will make you not sleep at night. From a curse that builds up to how many generations of a family, the movie goes on full gore as it tends to cut into scenes that will make you want to click off. As it mainly teaches about how the curse goes into history, hopefully, you can stay until the movie ends and withstand every single organ, flesh-eating, bloody scenes that you will witness.

12. Dolls (1987)

The classic horror movies are sometimes always the best. Dolls brings you every single thing you hate about dolls in one movie. You will squirm, gulp, or run away. What’s better than talking to dolls? Playing with them and eventually waiting for them to get rid of you… not. The graphics may not be that high-tech or 3D type, but the simplicity of the frightening dolls coming alive is scarier than the resolution of the film.

13. The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016)

With its great atmosphere and characters, the movie delivered a plot that will leave you the edge of your seat and make you feel all kinds of tingly. It succeeded in giving an exact vibe of an autopsy with horrifying walking bodies. It is best for those horror beginners wanting to get their first glimpse of a horror film.
