A Day to Remember Not Just our Loved Ones
It is imprinted in the Filipino tradition that we visit the cemetery or memorial homes to spend some time with our departed loved ones and to be able to relive our happy moments that we shared with them.
But during these times, Filipinos also commemorate and remember the victims of today’s war on drugs and the fallen soldiers of the Marawi Siege.
These events touched most of the Filipino hearts because of the countless of innocent lives lost to these tragedies.
Widows and family members left by the victims from the war expressed their emotions and shared their stories from the loss of their husbands during those times which led to the formation of “Baigani” also called as the “women warriors” on the aftermath of the incident.
Filipinos also showed sympathy for the victims as they together lit candles for them and offered prayer intentions during the mass in some parts of the country. Activists lit candles in advance in commemorating the departed souls.
Families from Marawi and of the fallen heroes of the Philippines together feel both sympathy and sentiments for each other as they talked and shared their stories remembering their husbands and fathers who sacrificed their lives during the siege.
This All Soul’s Day, let us all remember our departed love ones and include in our prayers as well as the victims of these wars that we may be able to show our sympathies and gratitude for them and all the sacrifices of the soldiers in the siege.
