Justice League: More of a Superman-Cyborg movie, lacked action (Spoiler Alert!)

Like any other superhero movie, the scene at the end of the credits is the best because it shows a teaser of the next installment of the series. For one, my screening of the Justice League movie on Friday afternoon was filled with a silent audience. Throughout the movie, there were teenagers who asked each other who the merman was. DC and Warner Bros. definitely let the fans of the comics down.

The 2017 installment of the Justice League series brought six of the most famous superheroes of all time: Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and Superman (Henry Cavill), to fight villain Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds) who wishes to conquer the world with three Mother Boxes, to for the Unity, the end of all worlds.

The recruitment process of the heroes took up 60% of the movie, including jokes from The Flash and lifeless lines from Batman.

Several scenes were so stuffed with CGI, and so little fight scenes. There were scenes where no one’s fighting and are nothing more than comedic interludes.

The plot took a miraculous turn into reviving Superman back to life which was the only thing that made the movie “superhero-y”. The movie would’ve worked without the whole of the Justice League, and just Superman himself. It was a disastrous representation of “the more, the better” because in the movie, Superman and Cyborg themselves is better.

Without Cyborg, whose life depended on part of the power of one of the Mother Boxes, the group wouldn't have known how to defeat Steppenwolf. Superman’s ability and Cyborg’s technology got to separate the boxes, while the rest of the group tried to kill the villain.

They lowered the bar of superhero movies, even though their well-known cast shone in their individual hero movies. The Justice League movie seemed like a trailer for the next DC movies like Aquaman, and The Flash. It was more of an introduction to who they were as superheroes before actually having their own movie. The actors brought a lot to their characters, but the plot didn't show it.

However, the last part of the film was good because this is where the little fight scenes lie. Although, the film, I felt was too short; mainly because there were not a lot of action to see, and because of it, it would make the public want more of it. No cliffhangers but it would leave you wanting more punches, kicks, and fights.

It's watchable, not that dreadful. Hopefully, the next installment is better than this one and features more of the members of the league.

Justice League now in theaters nationwide.
